And yes, I remember you were looking for more from Dean during the breaking phase, so I'm glad you enjoyed there. There will definitely be more stories with Dean struggling, though.
Will he ever be completely submissive? Funny, I don't think I can tell you that, but ... I think it's important to be realistic about both Dean's personality and Dean's situation. His personality is one that makes submission a complicated process, but his situation is one that will make his life even more miserable if he resists submitting. This tension isn't easily resolved.
As for whether people really do Needle Play in real life ... yes, they do. Probably anything you can imagine has been or could be used in kink and/or is the object of someones kinky interests. Dean's experience was really extreme, especially for a first time with that sort of thing, but it doesn't have to be immensely painful or bloody or anything. It's actually kind of fascinating and, depending on your aesthetics, it can look really neat. ;-)
