This was great, and strangely beautiful for how truly twisted it is. I love the image of the "sympathetic" slave owner you're creating here -- someone who probably thinks of himself as very liberal and humane, as slave-owners go -- look, he's encouraging his slave to read! He's taking the time to carefully explain why his slave has no rights or dignity! So creepy, so compelling, and sadly, I think a fairly accurate depiction of the banality of evil. I'm only on Sammy's side thus far because I have to believe that there is some shred of good Sammy left, somewhere under the surface. But I hate the Sam we see here with a passion.
