How do you know that you have too much SPN/RPS on the brain? When you're typing out a list of the months and yours looks something like: "August, September, October, Jensen, December." YEAH!
My Thoughts on My Fics This Year
Of my own works this year, I think ... (rule: no repeats)
My favorite story was ... Bury the Hunter (SPN), because it was so exactly what I want to write more of, I believe the genre should be called DARKSMUT!
My best story was ... J.B.: Against the Fence (CW/WBRPS), because it was hot nearly-kinky faux-hustler!fic that, apparently, so many other people also enjoyed.
My most underappreciated story was ... Goodbye My Lover (SPN/4400), most likely because I haven't posted most of the lead-in fics (LOL!) and the 4400 fandom is small (really though, it's a Sam POV character study, so you don't need to know anything about The 4400 to understand this fic).
My most fun story was ... A Normal Day (SPN), because it's basically just 1400 words of brotherly banter with lots of schmoop and humor.
My kinkiest (or most clichéd) story was ... The Gift (SG-1), because it's a really, really, hot afternoon scene from a very formal D/s relationship.
My sexiest story was ... Watch and Play (SPN), because I don't like mixing my girls with my boys, but I think this was an erotic peek into the mind of a girl as she watches the boys together and even plays a bit herself.
My darkest story was ... I Didn't Know Me Until I Met You, Ch.3: I Bleed and I Kneel for You (SPN), because there was so much terror and pain, though it technically should probably be Bloody Holiday (SPN), because people die graphically in that one.
My most WTF story was ... Elves and Names and Gifts and Trees (SPN), because ... umm ... LMAO ... it was just ... cracktastic.
The story that changed how I see the characters was ... Letters in My Mind, 1-8 of 8 (SPN), because it made me poke at all of Sam's hinted-at doubts and fears and his near hero-worship of Dean and his out-of-placeness in the Hunting world and the spark of his inner darkness and ... and ... and ... just go read it if you haven't already.
The story that was the hardest to write was ... The First Thanksgiving - Wednesday, 1-3 of 3 (DW/SPN), because I knew where I wanted to go, but had a bitch of a time getting my muse to put it down on paper in any kind of coherent way ... and I'm still having that problem for the follow-ups to that story.
The story that was the biggest disappointment was ... Not a Kid Anymore (SPN), because it was my first graphic Wincest and only my second graphic fanfic generally, so ... yeah ... LOL ... *is embarassed*.
The story that was the biggest surprise was ... I Didn't Know Me Until I Met You (SPN), because it was my first real challenge fic and it grew from one little idea into a huge 30K story and the start of a whole new fic universe.
The story that said the most about me as a writer was ... The Heat Outside Would Never Warm Him, because despite the fact that fanfic has recently taken over my creative writing life, I actually think of myself more as a POET. So, when I sit down to write something, it usually starts really lyrical like this and evolves over time into something else, still really description-heavy, but less ... I dunno ... driven by the metaphors and made-up-words that label things in my mind.

And yeah, that whole Jacket!fic situation is how I got into fanfic in the first place, really. I'd written like two pseudo-fics before then, but thought the Jacket!porn challenge would be a good way to stretch my creative muscles. Apparently, it worked. LOL! Now I'm totally addicted to fanficcing. And yeah, it was so awesomely interesting to poke around during that time and find dozens of jacket-related fics. I still <3 yours hardcore.
